Hello, I'm Pio, a documentary filmmaker and multimedia producer based in Vienna. I work mainly as a cinematographer and editor, and my films are driven by curiosity about people, cultures, and the relationship between society and the environment.
I'm fluent in German and English, currently learning Spanish, and open to relocating for projects.
My Story
I grew up in a small village in Bavaria and trained as a carpenter in Hamburg, where I went on to work in construction for a few years. Later I moved to Vienna and into the film industry. That background still shapes how I work: practical, patient, and focused on location or in the editing studio.
What I care about most in this work is trust. While filming a documentary about Rota-Therapy and children's development at a school for children with special needs, something that first felt heavy became one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. I watched the children grow, and they welcomed me back every time I returned. That's the kind of connection I look for in every project.
Since then I've worked on international productions, independently and in multicultural teams, and I enjoy adapting to new places and perspectives. Whether I'm behind the camera or in the edit, I'm after the same thing: stories that people feel they can trust.
